There’s Plenty of Vintage Christmas Inspiration Today

Where Should I Shop For Vintage Items?

You don’t have to spend a lot of money on antique and vintage Christmas decor for your bedroom. Here are some of my favorite ways to shop for thrifted finds.

Very Vintage Christmas Bedroom Tour

Let’s start with my favorite vintage decor piece in the bedroom. This antique cabinet wasn’t always built into the wall.

When we first moved in, we were greeted by a stand-alone dark wood cabinet. We didn’t have much room in the house to display it, but when we were doing some remodeling, we were able to build it into the wall and use it as a dresser.

This Year’s Chrismas Color Scheme

I made the choice to keep the blue and white that’s been in my bedroom since summer when I got some new bedding from Hallstrom Home.

There are literally no Christmas colors in this room. But I don’t think that matters these days. I love the whites, creams, grays, and roses that go so well with the light blue walls.

Garland and Twinkle Lights Keep it Simple

I try to keep Christmas decorating very simple in our cottage-style bedroom, especially since we don’t spend much time here.

A Very Vintage Nightstand

As you have probably already guessed, my small bedroom can’t fit much furniture in it. But I was able to fit this cute little vintage nightstand I found at an antique shop in the corner.

The nightstand is one of my favorite unique items because it has so much character, Do you see the difference in space from the outside edge to the drawer between the left and right sides?

Here’s one of the many mercury glass pieces I have in my bedroom.

I have a serious thing for vintage alarm clocks. The problem is that I don’t find many in good condition and if they are, the price is sky-high.

Vintage books are such a great decor idea no matter the season and one of my favorite things to add to vignettes.

Another Built-In Created for Additional Space

Did I happen to mention that old houses have very little storage space? We’re always looking for creative ways to find storage solutions.

To remedy the situation, we created another built-in on the other side of the room since we have no room for a true dresser. The space we used was the original closet. Adding the beadboard made the cabinet look a bit older.

The Coastal Christmas Tree

Don’t you get so inspired when you flip through a magazine or see a bedroom on a blog tour that has one of those full floor-to-ceiling Christmas trees all decked out with the most beautiful decorations?

Me too!

Unfortunately, I can’t fit one of those in our cottage bedroom but I can bring in a sweet little tree instead.

I thought I would try my hand at a coastal-themed Christmas tree in the space this season, you know because I live at the beach. But watch out for next year when I hope to create a tree with all vintage Christmas ornaments for our bedroom.

A vintage galvanized bucket is used as the container for the Christmas tree. And the beveled mirror behind the tree was bought at a vintage shop.

The Faux Fireplace Mantel is the Star of the Show

This faux fireplace mantel was built by my husband, inspired by several vintage pieces that I had found over the past years. It’s the perfect way to display seasonal decor in a small space.

We don’t have a fireplace in our home and I desperately missed not only having a fire on a cold winter day but decorating the mantel for the holidays.

I wanted to keep the Christmas decorations simple this year. I used the NOEL silver stocking hangers that I bought from Pottery Barn years ago. They don’t carry them anymore but I did find a few on Etsy.

The Bay leaf garland was also from Pottery Barn many years ago. I added lights, ornaments, and pinecones.

The larger cream mirror is one of those vintage thrifted items I fell in love with at first sight, while the other two are only vintage-inspired.

The cream Christmas stockings are from Target and the navy and cream striped ticking stockings were from Hallstrom Home.

The brass candlesticks are a mix of vintage-inspired and vintage finds in several different thrift shops.

I have a lot of mercury glass decor in the bedroom and love the vintage feel whether something is old or newer.
