Summer is all about relaxation and coastal vibes at our beach cottage. I like the “clean and simple” approach this time of year, which makes it so easy to decorate, compared to other seasons. Come take a tour and see how I transformed this room into a simple summer kitchen.
Whether it’s bringing in bright colors, or a vase of fresh cut flowers, you can modify your kitchen to create a summer-time feel with little effort.

Show Off Your Fruit
Accessorizing with a bowl of fresh or faux fruit can brighten up the kitchen.
Lemons are always my go-to summer fruit. The bright yellow color goes well with everything.
Fresh Cut Flowers
Cut flowers are always sure to add interest and a pop of color.
Bright Dishes and Glassware
I rearranged my glass cabinets to showcase my blue, green and yellow dishes and glassware.
Displaying several different shades of blue throughout the kitchen, along with a pop of yellow, helps brighten the kitchen up for summer. Vibrant dishes and glassware are a great a must.
Open Shelving
I know there are mixed feelings about open shelving. Many people feel that it is not a realistic option, because of the extra work involved in keeping them clean.
I personally love the opportunity to display as much as I can in my kitchen. I don’t have much room to work with, and I have little counter space. So the open shelving is fun for me. I am constantly changing it up through the seasons and create different color schemes. I’m just crazy that way!
Are you sensing a theme here? More colorful fruit and fresh cut flowers!
The Perfect Candle
I love candles all year long. This candle from Cultivated Candle Co. is my favorite scent, Lemon Cake.
There is no other flower that says summer quite like a daisy!
Decorative Pillows
You’ll find navy and white pillows filling the window seat during the summer months.
I hope you enjoyed my summer cottage kitchen tour. As you can see, I just added simple touches like bright colored fruit, fresh flowers, and bowls. It’s so easy to transform your kitchen to make it feel like summer, with very little expense.
