Saltwater Sounds Weekly: It’s Beginning to Look A lot Like Summer
Welcome to Saltwater Sounds, a collection of ideas, tips, and inspiration. Here, I share everything happening in the world of Shiplap and Shells, what’s to come, and the inspiration I’ve found from other bloggers around the web.
This and That
How was your first week of June?
Mine started with cold, rainy days and ended with a few beautiful sunny days. It really is amazing how much a perfect warm sunny day can lift your spirits and motivation.
I know I may sound like a broken record, but it has still been all about yard projects and garden work. I’ll show you the updates later in this post.

But first, I took a break to see the Maren Morris concert at the St. Michelle Winery on Saturday night with friends. It was my first time visiting this venue, and I really enjoyed it.
There’s something to be said about spending quality time with your girlfriends!
I’m really going to try to get out of the garden next week long enough to take pictures of our summer beach cottage.
Here’s a glimpse, complete with a view of the car in the driveway. Pretty professional, right?
More Yard Project Updates
This may be the longest yard project ever. At least, that’s how it feels at this moment.
The good news is that this is the last part of the pathway that needs to be finished.
Our front yard is on a hill, so there is quite a slope in certain sections. The mole holes create even more uneven spots in the lawn.
Because of my issues with my knees and feet, it was becoming more dangerous for me. So we decided to have some paver paths with steps rather than the slippery stone that was put on a slope.
Here are the two newest raised beds from Epic Gardening.
When do you think it’s time to say you have enough garden beds in your garden (asking for a friend)?
More updates next week, so come back to see more.

Around the Garden and Greenhouse
I am loving the garden right now. I spent the last few days bringing out all the yard art, like my garden fairies.
Here’s a look at the cut flower garden.
The only blooms I see now are my marigolds and a few zinnias. But the young annual plants are starting to get tall.
Have you supported your tall plants early so they won’t fall over once they reach their maximum height?
The picture on the left is of the planter I got last fall from Dutch Crafters.
I’m growing white petunias and marigolds with potatoes in the back row.
One of our vintage bikes is full of verbena, marigolds, petunias, and more growing in the baskets.
I’ve been bringing out the outdoor pillows and furniture to create some summer seating areas.
Our deck was just oiled for the season so I’ll touch up that outdoor living space next. Do you have all your outdoor decor in the garden and patio yet?
