This and That…

Welcome back! It’s already the middle of January, can you believe it?

I’m getting into the gardening spirit with a couple of new garden posts for you this week. And for those of you that are more interested in the indoors this month, I’ll be making you happy with a winter home tour and a vintage post next week.

I have this year’s flower seeds in my hot little hands! I wrote a blog post listing all the varieties I’ll be planting this year in the cut flower garden.

I’m finalizing my garden plan and hope to share it with you next week. I’m getting so excited.

It’s going to be a little different with my knee replacement surgery coming up but I do have some help arranged so I feel better about getting everything sowed in time.

I still don’t have a surgery date for February which is a little frustrating but I’m hoping to find out soon.

rain clouds over January garden

We are looking at highs in the 40s (Fahrenheit) all week. We’ve had a lot of rain this past week with plenty more in the forecast but it’s been uneventful compared to California. I hope they get some relief soon.

Around Our Cottage

I’ve been adding winter home decor here and there for the last week. After taking my Christmas decor down, I’ve been concentrating on cleaning rather than decorating so far this month so it feels good to finally have some winter pillows and other accessories out again.

Stop by on Tuesday when I share my winter decor ideas with a touch of coastal style.

forcing forsythia branches to bloom in big basket

I cut forsythia branches and brought them indoors to bloom. It looks a little blah here but give it another week and you’ll see yellow blooms in this basket.
