Past Home Tours for You to Enjoy
Take a look at my “Home for the Holidays” blog page with some of my favorite Christmas decor pictures of our home. Here are some of the other holiday home tours from past years linked below:
Green and White Christmas Decor Living Room Tour
Today, I’m sharing my living room space, all decked out for the Christmas season.
For those who remember my Christmas living room last year, my color scheme was still very neutral, like this year. The difference was that I had a blue and green Christmas tree.
Green and white are quite common Christmas colors. From what I’ve read, green represents evergreen trees, which remain vibrant and full of life even in the coldest months, symbolizing renewal and hope.
White, on the other hand, represents the purity of freshly fallen snow, adding a touch of serenity and magic to the holiday spirit.
Christmas Tree Choices for a Small Space
Our home is 1600 square feet and quite small.
When we first moved into our cottage, built in 1920, we would buy a large fresh tree, just like we had always done. But it took over the entire living room.
Now, I’m more strategic. I’ve figured out which types of Christmas trees work for smaller spaces. I have many smaller trees throughout the room and decorate each one differently.
Our Green and White Cottage Christmas Tree
I’m all about the faux pencil trees for this space. I have two 7-foot trees at separate ends of the living room.
The first tree I’m sharing is what I am calling simply “The Green and White Christmas Tree.” Brilliant, right? It’s a flocked tree and looks taller than it is because we created a DIY shelf inside the wicker tree collar.
I love having a white Christmas tree. This is my first one, and I’m thinking of adding another one to our home next year. This was a prelit tree, so I didn’t have to worry about wrapping around the Christmas lights (my least favorite part).
Starting with the tree decorations, I carefully placed last year’s neutral-colored pom pom garlands on the Christmas tree.
I added the new green ornaments I bought in early November at a few Poulsbo stores’ holiday open houses. The color green pops on the Christmas tree and the different shades make it even more fun and festive.
Off-white faux berries, white birds, burlap poinsettias, and feathered white ornaments went on the tree next.
The Christmas tree still needed more color, so I tied green velvet ribbon here and there until I felt there was enough color.
Then something amazing happened! I found some dried hydrangeas in a vase with all the fall decor. The green shade looked perfect with the rest of the Christmas decorations. It was the icing on the cake, for sure!
Wrapped gifts in green and white Christmas colors look great under the tree. These are all boxes I store away every year until the Christmas decorations go up.
Then, I wrap the empty gift boxes in the color scheme I choose for the year. This is a smart way to add color and interest to your Christmas decor.
The Christmas Hydrangea Tree
Many of you know that I am a lover of hydrangeas.
I’ve always dried hydrangeas in the late summer and early fall and used them throughout our cottage as the prominent autumn decor.
And then it clicked. Wouldn’t dried hydrangeas look beautiful on a Christmas tree during the holiday season? I love this decoration idea!
What an ideal way to give a boring green Christmas tree a makeover! To finish up, I added rust-colored velvet ribbon and gold Christmas decor.
Have you ever used blankets as your tree skirt? It’s so easy.
A pair of vintage ice skates were tucked under the tree, a wicker picnic basket, and a few wrapped gifts with the green and white Christmas decor theme.
Christmas Tree in the Hanging Basket
I bought this vintage hanging basket at Red Plantation a few years ago, and it is such a fabulous focal point in the living room.
I added one of my mini trees to the basket for Christmas and hung some fairy lights. Smaller white and mercury glass ornaments and soft brown colored ribbon with cream border were all this sweet little tree needed.
Christmas Ornaments: Perfect Green and White Christmas Decor
What do you do when you have too many large Christmas ornaments that won’t fit on the tree?
One of my favorite ways to show them off is to place them in bowls with fresh greenery and pine cones. They make the perfect table centerpiece.
White ornaments, mercury glass, silver ornaments, knit balls—the mixture of different metallics and textures makes the holiday display even more beautiful.
I use my vintage dough bowl to showcase my fabric and glass ornaments each year. It’s oversized, so I initially fill the bowl with anything I can to add some height so I don’t have to use as many ornaments.
You can use bubble wrap, towels, and paper bags. Be creative with whatever you have lying around the house.
Ceramic bowls, galvanized buckets, and enamel pots make a great container for extra Christmas ornaments.
Holiday Pillows and Throws for a Cozy Feel
Let’s talk about one of my favorite holiday decoration ideas… Christmas pillows and throws!
What a fabulous way to decorate for the holidays, and what an easy way to achieve that warm and cozy feeling you’re looking for.
One or two festive pillows on the sofa mixed with more neutral options may be all you need to achieve the look you’re hoping for.
I love this “Joy” pillow from Pottery Barn. It has the perfect shade of green for my green and white Christmas decor theme this year. Sadly, it looks like it’s sold out, but this Love Patchwork Lumbar Pillow is pretty sweet.
I spend my money on just a pillow or two each season and reuse the other neutrals I already have. It keeps the Christmas decor fresh without having to buy all new pillows.

Christmas Vignettes and Festive Decorations
Holiday Vignettes
Whether displayed on your coffee table, fireplace mantels, console table, or cabinet, vignettes are an important part of your Christmas decorating.
You can create a holiday vignette in 5 minutes.
Tiny trees, like this faux Nordic pine, branches, pinecones, faux snow, and green garland, are just some classic items for a holiday vignette.
I’m a sucker for mixing vintage items in with newer decor.
Here are just a couple of vintage must-haves for the holiday season. A vintage wicker basket, suitcase, shutter, and stoneware crock to hold one of my many mini Christmas trees look great on my old copper-topped sideboard.
I love incorporating several different textures and sizes of mini trees together. Bottlebrush trees come in many different colors these days, so it’s fun to mix and match throughout your living space.
Festive Christmas Decorations
This wooden horse decoration was found at HomeGoods. I’ve always wanted a vintage horse for the holidays, but this reproduction will do just fine until I find the perfect old-fashioned version.
The green patterned bow, fresh greens, and a few little bells liven things up a bit.
Christmas stockings and wreaths are festive holiday decorations that make a strong statement.
This winter white textured wreath with a green bow and some mini bells is another perfect Christmas decor piece. I love its floral details and use it for both fall and winter. They are sold out, but here are some similar wreaths: Curled Wood Winter Wreath | Bleached Fleur De Sel Wreath | Faux White Ilex Berry Wreath 30″
The cream-colored knit stockings are dressed up with gold Christmas bells, pops of faux greens, and green ribbon to tie them to the cabinet handle.
Here is another Christmas vignette with white decor and green accents. A wooden carved Santa, a white deer inside a glass cloche, and a cream pom garland add to the holiday spirit.
The touch of green around the cloche handle is a napkin ring. I’ve used these rings throughout the room, including the pendant light in the center of the living room. These have sold out, but here are some similar rings that may work and more napkin rings.
Whether it’s a wreath hung on the front door, seasonal flowers and greenery in a vase, or a rustic reindeer head displayed with your favorite scarf, holiday decor is not only festive and joyful but can also be simple.
Sometimes, the small things make the biggest statements.
