Today I’m joining my friend Ann of Dabbling and Decorating in sharing how we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day in our homes.
Ann has the most wonderful blog where she shares decorating tips, her love for vintage and thrift finds and DIY projects. She has 2 beautiful homes in Vermont and Coastal Maine. If you haven’t been to her blog, make sure you pay her a visit, where you will enjoy her Simple Thrifty Valentine’s Day Celebration.
This year, I’ve created a garden inspired Valentine’s Day themed tablescape. If I think back to the last time my husband and I went out to dinner on this romantic holiday, it would be 11 years ago, on our first Valentine’s together. We’re not big on crowds, and always thought it was more fun to make dinner together and enjoy each other’s company in the privacy of our own home.
Valentine’s Day may look different for many of us this year due to state restrictions. I’m sure there will be plenty of you planning to celebrate the romantic holiday by having a nice dinner at home. So naturally, you’ll want to create a special Valentine’s Day tablescape.
Valentine’s Day themed tablescapes almost always have centerpieces with flowers. I have always mixed reds, pinks and whites together.
Garden Inspired Centerpiece
Rather than using only roses or tulips, like I have for past Valentine’s Day tablescapes, I made a stop to a local floral shop to see what they had available. I said goodbye to tradition, and incorporated the following beautiful blooms…
- Red and lavender roses
- White, red and pink tulips
- White, pink and purple snapdragons
- African Violets
Here’s a tip for you. Always ask the florist if they will charge you for a floral arrangement rather than charging by stem. It saved my about $30!
I went on a little shopping spree in Poulsbo, WA last weekend and bought these cute faux white chocolate covered strawberries at Design Home and Garden, one of my very favorite stores. The white bowls are vintage.

These pretty red glasses are also from Design Home and Garden. They really added a pop of color to my table.

Adding baked goods like the mini cupcakes shown on this white cake stand are a sweet touch. I tell myself every year that I will make homemade cupcakes for the following year. Somehow it never happens.

We try not to have too many sweets in the house, but Valentine’s Day is an exception. I will admit I have already eaten 2 of these chocolate mint cookies. Please don’t judge me.
This will most likely be the only time I decorate with reds until next Christmas, so enjoy.
I hope you’ve gotten a few ideas for creating a garden inspired Valentine’s Day tablescape this year. Whether it’s Valentine’s Day with a loved one, or Galentine’s Day with girl friends, I hope you have a wonderful holiday.
