Saltwater Sounds: A Holiday Trip Down Memory Lane

Welcome to Saltwater Sounds, a collection of ideas, tips, and inspiration. Here, I share everything happening in the world of Shiplap and Shells, what’s to come, and the inspiration I’ve found from other bloggers around the web.

Farmer’s Market in Seatle, WA. during the holidays

Am I the only one who feels like December is already becoming a blur? Ten days to go! It’s all things Christmas around here.

It’s the month where the events of an entire year are all packed into just a few weeks. And you can never say no, because they are just too much fun!

I’ve had SO much fun that I’ve decided to take it easy next week, stay home, relax, and enjoy the Christmas decorations.

My new knee will thank me.

I thought sharing some of my favorite holiday memories in this week’s post would be fun.

The first one is a Christmas snowfall in Seattle. This doesn’t happen often here, so this view is one of my favorites.

Now, this is a VERY good time!

This event happens the second weekend of December every year. We’ve gone to the public dock in Gig Harbor to watch the parade for the past few years and have always made a party out of it.

We don’t partake in the actual parade, but we sit and love watching from the dock.

People go all out for this boat parade!

Jax and Ollie were amazing sports and let their mama take a picture of them.

Here’s a picture of the Downtown Gig Harbor Christmas tree. The picture doesn’t do justice to this spectacular tree. It is so stunning in person.

What I loved about this most was the reflection in the water.

Can you imagine a parade full of lighted cars driving down your street?

It’s pretty amazing. And what’s even better is sitting on the deck with the heat lamps on, wrapped up in a throw blanket and making smores while watching the trucks and cars going down the street, all lit up.

I think you all know I love making wreaths during the holiday season.

It is the highlight of the holiday season.

Of course, my favorite Christmas Eve gift was Ollie when I picked him up four years ago.

He was such a sweet puppy.

I’m taking a break from Christmas on the blog for the next couple of weeks but will be back in the new year for a new gardening season.

I’ll spend the rest of December working on my gardening plan, writing new blog posts, and preparing for seed starting.

If there’s something you would like to see here on the blog, let me know!
