Saltwater Sounds Weekly: The Last Hurrah in Europe
Welcome to Saltwater Sounds, a collection of ideas, tips, and inspiration. This is where I share all that’s been happening in the world of Shiplap and Shells, what’s to come and the inspiration I have found from other bloggers around the web.
This and That…
Happy Sunday! For those of you living in the United States, I hope you are enjoying your long holiday weekend. Wishing you a very happy Memorial Day.
And as always, thank you for being here on the blog. I’m so grateful.
Where We Are
We just left Capri, Italy, and are going to Positano. I really feel like we’ve saved the best for last. I’ve always wanted to see the Amalfi Coast and today’s the day!
Capri, Italy
Here are a few of the views from our hotel in Capri, Italy.
This is the terrace outside our hotel room. It’s a shared outdoor space but we seem to be the only ones using it.
I was fascinated by the houses built into the face of the mountain.
It was hard to see this incredible home because the house’s stone matched the cliff so perfectly.
Wait until you see the Capri city center pictures next week on the vacation blog posts. You won’t want to miss them!
Athens, Greece
We spent a day in Athens and learned so much about the history.
I will be working on writing blog posts for most of our European stops with more information. This is just a sneak peek while I’m on vacation.
Mykonos, Greece
This was one of my favorite places to visit during this trip.
If you remember from last week, we were unable to go to Santorini which I was most excited about. At least on this stop in Greece, I was able to see some of the beautiful white buildings and water views that I had been looking forward to.
Did you know that they call restrooms in Greece and Italy “water closets”?
I thought this picture said it all.
It has been such an amazing experience but I am excited to see my boys, Jax and Ollie, and my garden again. It must look so different after 3 weeks!
I’ve been so fortunate that our housesitter sends us so many pictures of the boys. It looks like Ollie has been eating leaves.
Jax is resting from playing with the tennis ball. Some things never change.
We’re on our way home in just a couple of days.
What’s Happening at Shiplap and Shells…

What a fabulous time Kim! I’m so excited to hear your stories, and I know the puppies will be so happy to have you home! 🙂 Safe travels my friend!
Thank you so much, Barbara. I am currently at the Newark airport on a 6-hour layover and then headed home. It’s a 26-hour travel day but can’t wait to see the boys. I hope they remember me.
Kim, I cannot WAIT to hear all about your trip. I just love Italy and we are still considering finding a place there someday. I’ve been to Capri and Positano, but never Greece~which is on my bucket list. Safe travels home, as it is always good to be home. Love the pictures and you look very relaxed!
I can’t wait to share everything with you Mary. I am so sad that we missed Santorini becuase of the weather, but everything else was so beautiful.
Thanks so much Kim for the pics. We were supposed to go on a Mediterranean cruise with our kids in June of 2020. It was for our 50th wedding anniversary and my 70 and Bobs 75 birthdays. We were crushed when we had to cancel, but everybody in the fam and friends are looking forward to June of 2023. So I am looking forward to your travel blogs. Safe Travels home. Deb Hunt
I’m so sorry your celebration was canceled. We were also planning on the trip for September 2020 and it kept getting pushed out. We stayed safe and I’m happy to say we are on our way home today. So excited to share our experiences soon. I’m so happy to hear that you will all be cruising next year. Hugs.
What an amazing travel log … stunning photos of gorgeous places. I love the feeling of coming home after a wonderful adventure. There’s no place like home where our four legged kids … and garden reside! Can’t wait to read more about your travels. xo
Hi Juliet! I’m so excited to come home to see the boys tonight. It’s been such a great adventure and I look forward to getting all my pictures and posts organized and sent out soon.
Your trip looks amazing. Can’t wait to read all about it. We want to go next year?
