Saltwater Sounds Weekly: Leftovers, Shopping, and Decorating

Welcome to Saltwater Sounds, a collection of ideas, tips, and inspiration. This is where I share everything happening in the world of Shiplap and Shells, what’s to come, and the inspiration I’ve found from other bloggers around the web.

This and That

Happy holiday weekend to those of you living in the U.S. How was your Thanksgiving?

Ours was more of a Friendsgiving and was absolutely wonderful as always. I have the best friends. They are truly my family and I love them so much.

My friend Lori’s house on Thanksgiving

This is my friend Lori’s home and she opens it up to us each year. Not only is her home the most warm and comfy farmhouse but my friend is the best cook.

Here’s a peek at the delicious turkey.

I made the pumpkin pies. One was the regular recipe from the back of a Libby’s can. The other was a bourbon pumpkin pie with brown sugar. Can you guess which one was eaten first?

A wheelbarrow full of holly for the wreaths

So how are you spending your holiday weekend? A). Eating a ton of leftovers. B). Shopping until you drop. C). Relaxing and not doing a thing. D). Getting started on your holiday bucket list. E). Something entirely different.

I have already decorated our beach cottage for Christmas. That was my first bucket list item for the holidays. And I crossed another item off the list yesterday. I made a wreath.

There were plenty of snacks and leftovers at our annual wreath-making party.

I loved the festive red bow on Lori’s wreath.

I made a wreath and as you can see I thought I would try to decorate a festive wine barrel hoop sphere. Working with grapevines takes real patience.

Here’s the look I was shooting for, above. I’ll share my finished one with you soon.

As you can see, my friends and I had the best time.

Around Our Beach Cottage for the Holidays

Here’s my best boy Jax. It’s usually hard to see him in pictures but the sun hit him just right here, so being a proud mama, I decided to share him.

Plus, I shared Ollie sleeping on the couch last week, so I owe Jax a little love on the blog.

I’ve shared my green and white Christmas tree but I don’t think I’ve shown you this one. I added my dried hydrangeas to it, along with green velvet ribbon and gold and silver ornaments.

Stay tuned to the blog! Next Wednesday is our first Christmas home tour of the season.
