How To Create Beautiful, Cozy, and Neutral Christmas Bedroom Decor
I’m so happy you’re here for this little peek inside our holiday bedroom. Every year, I look forward to adding a few soft, seasonal touches to this space, and this season’s neutral Christmas bedroom decor has taken shape in the warmest, coziest way.
I started with simple layers of cream, brown, and copper, but once everything was in place, I couldn’t resist adding a few burgundy velvet bows — and honestly, they might be my favorite detail.
The soft pops of burgundy add just the right amount of depth without overpowering the room or competing with our pale blue walls. They bring in a touch of old-fashioned Christmas charm while still keeping the overall vibe calm and understated.
And yes… the pencil tree is twinkling away in the corner, usually with Ollie curled up right beside it. It’s the kind of cozy that makes you want to settle in for the season.

My Christmas Bedroom Style: Soft Neutrals, Vintage Charm & a Touch of Holiday Burgundy

I always start the season with a neutral decorating plan in this small bedroom with pale blue walls.
Soft creams, warm browns, natural greenery, and vintage textures usually set the tone. But this year, once everything was in place, I couldn’t resist adding a few velvet burgundy ribbons — just enough to bring in a little richness without overwhelming the calm, cozy feel I love.

The result still feels like a neutral Christmas bedroom, just with a warm, collected cottage vibe and a tiny pop of holiday depth. It feels soft and understated, but just enough to make the room feel festive the moment you walk in.
The Faux Fireplace Mantel: Understated, Soft & Seasonal

If you’ve been here a while, you know how much I love this faux fireplace mantel.
It adds instant architectural charm to our small bedroom and gives me a fun excuse to decorate a mantel for Christmas, especially since we don’t have one in the living room.
No chimney required — just a little imagination and a few pretty things.

This year’s design is simple, layered, and filled with soft texture. I used:

The entire look feels collected, cozy, and perfect for a small bedroom — festive without ever feeling overwhelming.

The cream knit stockings are simple, cozy, and perfectly cottage-y — exactly the kind of texture that softens the whole room.
To dress them up for the season, I added chocolate brown velvet ribbon, a touch of greenery, and a few dried orange slices for a hint of natural warmth.
I tucked in a couple of tiny bells for that old-fashioned Christmas charm. It’s such an easy combination, but it adds so much personality to the mantel without making the room feel cluttered — which is always something I’m mindful of in this small space.
The Pencil Christmas Tree in Brown, Copper & Cream

I’ll always say it: if you have a small bedroom, a pencil tree is a game-changer. Tall, slender, and full of charm without taking over the entire room.
This year’s tree might be one of my favorites yet. I decorated it with:

The tree fits perfectly in this cozy little alcove, creating such a charming holiday moment in the room. And yes, Ollie has already claimed this spot for his evening snoozes.
Cozy Bedding & Layered Winter Textures

I kept the bedding soft and inviting this season with a simple white duvet and cover as the base. From there, I layered in my favorite blue, white, and pale blue patterned bedspread (a HomeGoods find!) along with a couple of cream knit throw blankets for extra warmth and texture.

And of course… pillows. Lots and lots of pillows. Because honestly, who doesn’t love a pile of cozy pillows at Christmas?

I added my Ho Ho lumbar pillow for a fun little seasonal touch, and the whole look feels festive without being over-the-top.
Christmas Decor Details Around the Bedroom

Because this is such a small space, I have to be really intentional about what I bring in. A few special pieces go a long way in here, and I love choosing items that add charm without making the room feel cluttered.

On one of the shelves in the built-in cabinet, I styled a glass cloche with a tiny wooden house and a mini bottle brush tree sitting on a vintage silver plate — it’s simple, sweet, and one of my favorite little winter moments.

I tucked in a few neutral bottle brush trees and some vintage books to finish the shelf without overwhelming it.

I love the two vintage silver bottle brush trees with oversized silver ornaments. They’re such unique pieces and add a soft metallic glow that ties in beautifully with the rest of the room.

The other antique built-in holds a “Let It Snow” framed print and a pair of vintage Mr. and Mrs. Snowpeople. They make me smile every time I walk by.

On my vintage nightstand, I added a small vintage tinsel tree with bright pink and turquoise lights (a fun pop of unexpected color), a milk glass jar, and two tiny trees for balance.

And because I can never resist a whimsical touch, I hung a sprig of mistletoe in the doorway. It’s the kind of detail no one expects but everyone notices.
It’s these little touches that tell the story of the room. Nothing over-the-top… just quiet, meaningful notes of Christmas.
Soft Lighting for a Magical Glow

Lighting makes the biggest difference in a Christmas bedroom. I use mostly warm lighting so everything feels soft and welcoming.

A few of my favorites this season:

It just feels dreamy at night — the kind of light that makes you want to curl up with a good book and stay a while.

Kim – I have to know the color of the paint you used on the cabinet in this bedroom that has the glass window panes on the top or what you called the antique build in cabinet. Love, love that color.
Just love seeing your post in my inbox every Sunday morning.
Merry Christmas!
Hi RoxAnne,
I’m still on the boat but will let you know the color when we get home. I think it’s a number and not a name but I’ll send it soon. Sorry I’m so late in replying.
It’s so cozy and beautiful! We still have no decor in our bedroom, starting year three here. Maybe I should decorate it for Christmas any way!
I always drool over that mirror over your mantel. I have wanted one like that for years but have never lucked into one on any junkin’ adventures…yet!
I also love the ribbons and bows on your mirrors. I might steal that idea because it’s hard for me to drape greenery over my two fireplace mantel mirrors due to the shape, but a simple bow would work.
I just adore that tiny tree with the colored lights too! Everything is just charming!
Thanks so much for joining and Merry Christmas!
You have no idea how lovely I think your bedroom is. It has so much character and the details are perfect. I’m not sure I’d want to get out of bed! I wish you’d one day come to Texas and redo our farmhouse bedroom! It seriously needs some love and character. Hope you have a fabulous holiday season. Merry Christmas! pinned
Kim, your bedroom is stunning! Having that mantel in there is just perfect for Christmas and your tree is beautiful as well. I always think about adding a tree to my bedroom but never do. Your bedroom looks like a cozy oasis. Between all the twinkling lights and layered bed, I’m sure it’s hard to leave! Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful holiday season!
Shelley
Kim your bedroom is truly gorgeous. I love the soft shades and lovely textures that you have incorporated. The wee bells on the stockings are charming. Indeed all your holiday tours delight my heart.
Yes soft, understated, yet festive is an excellent way to describe your Christmas bedroom Kim! I always love the way you style your built in shelves and your charming mantel! The big burgundy bows are perfect! Happy Christmas!
