Saltwater Sounds: Boating Days, Vintage Finds, and a Bedroom Refresh
Welcome to this week’s edition of Saltwater Sounds, a collection of ideas, tips, and inspiration. Here, I share everything happening in the world of Shiplap and Shells, what to look forward to on the blog, and the inspiration I’ve found throughout the week.

Hi friends! This week’s Saltwater Sounds is packed—consider it a double issue full of coastal adventures, vintage finds, and a few fresh touches around the house.
From boating and shopping to hosting and decorating, it’s been one of those weeks where every day held something memorable.

Bainbridge Island by Boat
I shared our shopping day in Poulsbo in the last Saltwater Sounds, but promised I had more to add to this week’s post about anchoring in Eagle Harbor, Bainbridge Island.
We anchored where we could see the ferries in the distance. It’s such a peaceful view and one I never get tired of.
A Favorite Shop in a New Spot
We also visited the new Details Home and Garden store on the island.
It had plenty of garden charm, and while it’s a little different than the Poulsbo location, it was still filled with plenty of springtime garden inspiration.
Check out the rest of the store…
A New Discovery Full of Coastal Charm
One of my favorite discoveries was a store called Conservatory Coastal Home. I absolutely loved it.
The style was so fresh, coastal, and clean.
There is another store in Port Townsend that I have been to many times. It’s so nice to have a closer location to visit.
The pillow, throw, and candle assortment had the perfect beachy vibe.
I ended up buying four new pillows for the living room, and I already love the way they’ve refreshed the space in my living room.
Vintage Finds & A Clever Bar Cart
Later in the week, I took a shopping trip to Josephine’s Mercantile in Port Orchard with a friend, and wow! There were so many fun vintage pieces!
I always find something perfect for my home – ALWAYS!
Here are some of the vendor booths…
We spotted so many great pieces, but my favorite find was a vintage cart that I’m now using as a bar cart. I’m surprised I even saw the cart with all the other treasures loaded on it.
Since my home is small, I love how versatile this piece is. I can roll it out of the pantry for parties or gatherings, and then tuck it away again when I’m not using it. It’s cute and convenient—my favorite combination.

Bunko Night on the Boat
This past Monday, I hosted our monthly Bunko game on the boat, and it was such a fun night!
The space was a bit crowded, but the good vibes and laughter more than made up for it.
I made chicken tortilla soup, Mexican cornbread, and an avocado salad for dinner.
There’s just something about gathering on the water, even if you’re packed in a little closer than usual.

Bedroom Refresh
I also did a little summer refresh in the bedroom this week.
A few simple swaps, like lighter bedding, fresh flowers (working on that next), and soft colors, can make a big difference as we head into the warmer months.
The pale blue and white print comforter and shams were from Pottery Barn years ago. I love using them during the summer months.
You can usually find Ollie here about 18 hours of the day. He loves to sleep where it’s quiet, and is completely different from Jax, who follows his mama around all day.
We have a lot of vintage pieces in this room, including this nightstand and shutters.
If you’ve never heard the story about this built-in, you need to read my post about how it was built at the same time as the house and how we eventually built it into the wall.
This faux fireplace mantel surround, built by my husband, is one of my favorite pieces. It doesn’t take up much room but gives me just enough space to show off my seasonal decor.
This antique mirror came from a shop in Centralia where the owner was closing up. I couldn’t believe the amazing price I got it for!
These are the two built-ins we added to the bedroom. With so little space for a dresser, they’ve been a game changer for storage.
I’ve loved this window seat since day one, but placing the bed on this wall was our only option, so we don’t get to enjoy it quite the way it was meant to be.
That said, the three built-in storage compartments are a big win!

Oh sweet ollie. Nothing better than a photo of an adorable love bug doggie in the pillows. We lost our last little yorkie girl last year. I was literally sick for months after that.
Oh Jillian! I am so sorry to hear you lost your sweet girl last year. I felt that way when we lost Lucy, our mini dauchsund a few years back. Ollie goes from room to room and window seat to window seat to take naps throughout the day. He’s pretty cute. I think I’m sharing another pic of him this week.
