Random This & That

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING! It’s here, it’s finally here! Does it feel like spring where you are today? It looks like we’ll have rain through Monday. The days are warming up into the 50s, but the nights are REALLY cold, still in the 30s. I’ll be out in the greenhouse sowing the rest of the seeds this weekend.

Website issues: This week has been a struggle, and it’s not over yet. Do you remember me mentioning a few weeks ago that I had an audit done on my website and I had someone working on it? Well, let’s just say I have been learning a ton about things I’m not sure if I want to learn about. Just kidding… maybe.

At least when you don’t know what you don’t know, you don’t stress about it, right? Anyway, please, PLEASE be patient with me and my blog for another week or so. There are crazy things happening. I’ve heard that there are errors sometimes when clicking on links, etc. so hopefully this will all be sorted out soon and I will have a happy, speedy site for you to enjoy again.

Magazine Feature: Have you had a chance to grab a copy of the Spring/Summer Better Homes & Gardens Cottage Style Magazine yet? If you have, you’ll know that my summer garden was featured.

Out and About: I was out getting my hair done last week and stopped at a few places. I thought it would be fun to share…

The spring flowers are in full force out there in the local nurseries!

The Garden Room, Gig Harbor, WA

Here is one of my favorite shops in Gig Harbor, WA., The Garden Room. Did you see the gorgeous forsythias in the first picture of this post? Those are faux flowers and I purchased them at the Garden Room years and years ago. They’re still going strong! I just heard some exciting news that they are moving locations in May for more space. So excited!

THRIFTING IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST WITH THE GALS

My friends and I had so much fun Thrifting with the Gals last week. Make sure you see what we found, where we found it and so much more, including tips on thrifting.

We tend to have more “eye candy” vintage shops around here, but some of the gals have the most incredible thrift stores with the most amazing deals. All their links are at the bottom of my post and you can READ IT HERE.

MY FAVORITE SPRING FINDS AT TARGET

Here’s what’s new for spring at Target! I am loving the Threshold designed with Studio McGee and Hearth and Hand with Magnolia collections.

Our house in the 70s.

Coming Up:

I have a garden post, a spring tour blog hop, and another Pinterest Challenge coming up. And I’m REALLY trying to get the Celebrating Our 100-Year-Old Beach House series back on track. I’ll have the before and after kitchen renovation for you soon! Here’s a fun picture of our beach cottage in the seventies (I think). I would give anything to be able to see the inside of our house back in the day.

  1. Kim … I love this old photo of your home. Wow, what a long way it’s come since the 70’s. I only visited Gig Harbor once during my two years in the PNW … I missed this cute shop. Darn. Thanks for including me in your inspiration links. What a thrill! Good luck with your web-site issues … it’s working beautifully for me today. Tech stuff is so frustrating. Happy Spring! xo

  2. Kim, I am finally catching up on all my blog post reading. I love the picture of your house in the 70s. Hard to believe our houses are similar in age (mine was built in 1910). Those forsythia faux blossoms are so life-like. My guess is that your have more fun garden spots like The Garden Room than we have in Phoenix. Thanks for sharing all the great inspiration. Good luck on wrapping up your blog issues! Will look for you in BH&G.
