Saltwater Sounds Weekly: Labor Day Weekend

Welcome to Saltwater Sounds, a collection of ideas, tips, and inspiration. This is where I share everything happening in the world of Shiplap and Shells, what’s to come, and the inspiration I’ve found from other bloggers around the web.

THIS AND THAT

Happy Labor Day to my U.S. friends. I hope you are spending your extended weekend doing something fun. Let me know what you’re up to.

It’s the last hurrah of summer…I still can’t believe I’m saying that. August was gone in the blink of an eye.

Even though I’m a die-hard fan of the summer, we’ve got some big plans for September that I’m really excited about!

We are going on another boat trip this month.

Our plans are to go to La Conner, the San Juan Islands, and Canada where we will stop in Victoria, Butchart Gardens, and Salt Springs Island.

Our boat is like a mini home on the water and we always love being on it, exploring all that Puget Sound has to offer.

I can’t wait to share our adventures with you during these next few weeks. And don’t worry. I have taken pictures and videos of my home decorated for fall, and our house sitter promises to take garden pictures for me.

So you won’t miss a thing while we’re gone.

AROUND THE GARDEN

I had so much fun planting fall flowers and plants in my new garden containers from DutchCrafters. I wrote a post about them and why they are such a great product so be sure to read more about these gorgeous containers here.

As you can see, I found some fabulous fall annuals and perennials for my garden containers.

When the season is over I will plant the perennials in the ground around the cottage garden. I wanted to add more Sedum Autumn Joy and Coneflower to the garden so this is the perfect way to do it.

AROUND OUR BEACH COTTAGE

I did it! I finally decorated for fall. That is at least in the living room and kitchen. I can’t wait to take you on the tour this coming Wednesday. Stay tuned!

For the record, Ollie is the perfect model for my fall decor. He mixes right in.

I decided to try a neutral autumn theme this year. I’m usually all about color but I wanted my fall color to come from the hydrangeas I’m drying since they’re unbelievably stunning this time of year.

  1. Kim, enjoy your boating trip! It sounds so adventurous! We will be heading back to Phoenix next week and then I can begin the fall decorating! It’s getting cooler here in the mountains which helps getting into the fall spirit. Won’t find that in Phoenix yet, but hopefully in another month or so. Safe travels!
