Saltwater Sounds Weekly: 8 More Days Until Christmas

Welcome to Saltwater Sounds, a collection of ideas, tips, and inspiration. This is where I share everything happening in the world of Shiplap and Shells, what’s to come, and the inspiration I’ve found from other bloggers around the web.

This and That

How are you holding up this month? This could be the most festive holiday season I’ve experienced as an adult.

Between wreath parties, girl’s weekend shopping trips, boat trips, a lighted boat parade, a lighted car parade driving down our street, and soon-to-be Christmas caroling, I’ve definitely taken advantage of this holiday season.

November and December are typically the busiest times for bloggers as well. I’ve written a lot of blogs over the last couple of months and have participated in 6 blog hops with other bloggers.

It’s been fun AND busy.

I’m looking forward to taking some time off during the next couple of weeks. Here are some things I’m looking forward to:

  • Spending time at home with Jax and Ollie, enjoying the Christmas decorations and twinkle lights
  • No work deadlines
  • Decorating my porch and greenhouse (I can’t believe I haven’t done that yet!)
  • Waking up in the morning without an alarm clock
  • Trying a few new recipes
  • Planning my 2024 garden
  • Spending quality time on the boat with my hubby and the boys
  • Cleaning my office

I found the sweetest Christmas sign at Harbor Nest in Gig Harbor while we were boating last week. Isn’t it the cutest?

Around the Garden and Greenhouse

Get ready to start seeing more about my garden and greenhouse in January.

The greenhouse is looking a bit boring these days, but the geraniums are overwintering nicely.

We’re starting to clean trays and get things ready for the seed-starting season. I’m so excited! I didn’t get to do much last year because of my knee replacement on February 9th. And even before that, I was having trouble walking.

There’s so much to make up for!

When I say ‘we” these days, I’m referring to a very special person who has been helping me in the garden for years now. But she took it to the next level last year when she sowed the seeds, grew them, transplanted them, and maintained the garden.

Her name is Zoya and I don’t know what I would do without her. She even takes care of my garden when I’m off on the boat. I’m so grateful to have someone like her in my life. I couldn’t do it without her.
