Saltwater Sounds Weekly: Vintage Shopping Spree
Welcome to Saltwater Sounds, a collection of ideas, tips, and inspiration. This is where I share everything happening in the world of Shiplap and Shells, what’s to come, and the inspiration I’ve found from other bloggers around the web.
This and That
February has been a lot of fun!
Last week, I enjoyed the Northwest Flower and Garden Festival. I needed those spring garden vibes and inspiration. I walked away feeling excited about getting back in the garden again.
Seeing all the emails and comments I got about the garden show pictures was so fun.

Vintage Show Shopping
Friday was another great day at The Found Market, a vintage and handmade show at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds.
The line wasn’t too long. We bought the early bird tickets and entered the doors at 3:00 on Friday afternoon.
I bought most of my vintage goodies at the booth called French Toast & Co. Mercantile. They had some wonderful vintage baskets and galvanized containers.
And I found some faux flowers that I definitely paid too much money for.
My friend and I were there for about an hour.
Sadly, I didn’t bring my wagon. I will never make that mistake again. It was really hard to shop while carrying all my purchases.
The booths were really small, and the vendors had no extra room to hold the items they sold.
I spent most of the time trying to get out of people’s way and not break anything with all the shopping bags I was carrying.
I loved the locker set and armoire. I wish I had room in our 1600-square-foot cottage to fit more furniture.
All in all, I bought some great items that I’ll be sharing next week. But I felt that even with the early bird tickets, there needed to be a limit to the number of people that were let in.
I tried to take more pics, but there were too many people, and I didn’t even make it to one-third of the booths.
I’m Heading to Florida Next Week
I’m traveling to Orlando on Wednesday to spend a few days with some blogging friends. We always have so much fun together.
I’ll meet up with my hubby for a few days to visit Disney World.
I’ve never been there but have been to Disneyland so many times I can’t count. I know it will be a lot of walking, so chances are we won’t get very far.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a cortisone shot before the trip, but we should still have fun.
I’ve made reservations at California Grill for my husband’s birthday dinner. Have you been? It looks like the most incredible view of the lagoon.
Around the Garden and Greenhouse
All the flower seeds have been sown except for the sunflower seeds I saved from last year’s flowers and anything that needs to be directly sown.
Above are the sweet pea seedlings and overwintering geraniums.
We have cosmos, zinnias, chocolate lace flowers, strawflowers, statice, yarrow, snapdragons, and more.
We have added three more galvanized stock tanks to the garden to grow veggies and a few flowers on the side of our house, where we get a lot of sun.
We’ve added rock and drilled holes. We will get some dirt when we return from our mini trip.
We originally had wine barrels, but they were falling apart.

Around Our Beach Cottage
I had such good intentions. I planned to start decorating for spring, but I just haven’t gotten to it yet. I did get another bundle of forsythias to force bloom indoors.
They always make me so happy.

I forgot to mark my calendar for the “Found Market!”😞 Enjoy your time in Orlando. We were in Disney World two years ago and had a blast. FYI-we saw lots of scooters (probably can rent) so keep that in mind when walking becomes too painful.
We had a great time at Disney World! I made it, although I was very glad when the day ended. It was a lot of walking and I wish I would have gotten a cortisone shot before I went. Still so much to see!
Great shopping Kim! I love the wagon idea too – so much easier. And you’re inspiring me to get going in the garden! Hope you have a lovey week – can’t wait to see you soon!
Yes! We all must take a wagon with us! We would buy so many things.
I would have loved going to the found market. What fun. I saw so many great things to buy. Enjoy your trip to florida. I’m on my way to Florida now. Hugs to you.
I hope you enjoyed your trip to Florida, Renae. It’s always so nice to get away this time of year, isn’t it?
