This and That…

Happy Superbowl Sunday!

Do you have big plans for the day? I’m assuming I’ll be napping through much of the game.

We all look at the Superbowl experience differently. Which of these describes you best?

  • A – Superbowl Sunday is my favorite day of the year!
  • B – I only watch the Superbowl if my team is playing.
  • C – Superbowl Sunday is all about the party!
  • D – I’m only here for the commercials and halftime show.
  • E – C & D

Which type of Superbowl fan are you? I’m a B and D fan.

My Surgery Update

First, I would like to thank those who have reached out to me, wishing me well on my surgery.

My knee replacement went well (I think). I wrote this the day before my surgery, unsure if I could coherently write a blog post while on pain medication.

If you’re reading this paragraph, I didn’t come in here and update this. And I was right about the meds. I’ll update you next week and let you know how the knee is progressing.

What I Was Doing Last Year

Let’s face it. I did nothing Saltwater Sounds worthy this past week.

I would have taken pics of the surgery if I could have, so I looked at last year’s post to see if my life was any more exciting. This is what I found.

1. A Garden-Inspired Trip to Costco

I found all kinds of goodies at Costco.

Although I’m not a huge fan of heather when it’s not blooming, I know I needed to bring some blooms to the winter garden.

I bought five heather and a couple of hellebores to plant in the garden spots that are looking bare and boring. The sad part for me is that hellebores have gorgeous blooms right now, but they can only be planted in the shade, and I don’t have much of that in the front yard.

If I had my way, I’d plant them everywhere.

primroses in the cart

Not the best picture here, but I also bought some primroses for containers. The bright colors scream, “hurry up, spring”!

2. Feeding the Hummingbirds

The hummingbirds were eating so much from this feeder. This is outside our kitchen window to see the daily activity.

The hummingbirds fight over the food, and there are mid-air battles that are fascinating to watch.

3. The Next Indoor Project

I painted the laundry room from sage green to white two years ago.

I liked how light it looked. But something was missing. It felt very stark.

So I started to paint the trim a greige. I had no idea there was a word for gray and beige mixed.

Here’s the blog post reveal if you want to see my finished laundry room.

  1. SO glad the surgery is over and you were well enough to watch the game! (It was a nail-biter, so hope it didn’t over-excite you too much!) ? 🙂 Thanks as always for your gorgeous photos and inspiration. Your Costco flowers were beautiful! Hope this week is nice and relaxing for you, and Happy Valentines Day too.

    1. Thank you, Barbara. I would have to say that I was the party pooper, but luckily it was just hubby and the dogs, so they love me know matter what.

  2. Hey Kim! Hope you are feeling better post surgery. I’m interested in your recovery as I may have knee replacement in the next year. Just be careful with your pain meds. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. I am a retired RN. Cheers, Deb

    1. Thanks for reaching out, Deborah. I would love to share my experiences with you. I have to get the other one done as well. I may email you about the pain meds. I am trying to be completely off of them, but I keep being told that I should take them before PT appointments to move the knee better. I would love to get your take on it.
