7 Simple Ideas for Creating a Warm and Cozy Cottage Kitchen for the Fall Season

  • Facebook
  • Email

Do you find yourself in the kitchen more than any other room in the house during the autumn months? I certainly do. Let me show you 7 simple ideas for creating a warm and cozy kitchen for the fall season.

fall mums and pumpkins

Updated 9/2/2022

The kitchen is pretty much the heart of the home, especially come nesting time when summer is over and we’re indoors more and more as the season progresses.

I don’t know about you but I’ll be spending a lot of time here in the kitchen during these next few fall months. So I always try to create a space of warmth and comfort here. And it’s so simple to do!

Ideas for Creating a Warm and Cozy Cottage Fall Kitchen

Let me show you some of the easy ways I will create a warm and cozy space in my cottage kitchen for the fall season.

1. Fall Flowers and Seasonal Fruit

Flowers are always part of my home decor no matter what the season.

If you don’t have fresh flowers available, invest in some faux flowers. Dried flowers are also a great decor addition during the fall season.

Have you ever dried hydrangeas from your garden? Read my blog post on 3 Easy Ways to Dry Hydrangeas. They make the best fall dec

I’ve even kept them through Christmas.

Enjoy fabulous fall flowers like mums and pansies in your kitchen. Check out the fall tablescape I created with pumpkins and mums.

The dahlias are still blooming in the garden, and are the perfect touch for a fall pop of color. I love using these beautiful blooms for fall tablescapes.

faux artichokes and bread boards

Mixing both faux and fresh fruits and vegetables in the kitchen is another way I create fall decor vignettes.

Artificial flowers, fruits, and vegetables have come a long way and are so realistic. Just look at these artichokes.

2. Add Warmth With Cozy Lighting

For those of you that are not familiar with the Pacific Northwest, it has a tendency to rain here. A lot!

Because of this, our home can get very dark during the fall and winter seasons. I’ve never been a fan of overhead lighting. To me, it’s much cozier to have a little lamp on my island, or a candle or two burning.

My fall tablescapes always have tea candles or pillars in candlesticks added throughout.

3. Open Shelving in the Kitchen

As far as I’m concerned, there is no better way to show off your fall decor than displaying them on open shelving.

I’m always showing off my favorite seasonal vintage pieces on shelving.

4. Copper Accessories for Fall

When I hear the words “fall decor” I immediately think of copper. There’s just something about the way it pops the entire kitchen.

Most of the copper pieces I have in my kitchen are from flea markets and thrift stores and you can usually find great deals out there.

5. Warm Wood Accents

Breadboards, wood trays, and dough bowls are perfect for a warm and cozy fall kitchen experience.

Dough bowls are a great way to show off your best fall decor and so easy to change up the looks whenever you want. I use pomegranates, apples, oranges, eucalyptus, and pumpkins in mine.

Show Off Your Mini Pumpkins and Gourds

I told you I would show you SIMPLE IDEAS to create a warm and cozy fall kitchen. Well…there’s nothing easier than adding a mini pumpkin here and there to your kitchen vignettes.

7. Fill Your Kitchen Space with Fall Fragrances

Let’s face it, having dogs is always a stinky problem when it’s too cold and wet to leave the windows open.

Diffusers really help make the house smell good with so many amazing-smelling essential oil combinations for the fall season. I use vanilla and cinnamon as a personal preference.

fall candles

I ALWAYS have candles burning in the fall. Not only do they provide soft lighting during the autumn season, but the kitchen smells like I’m baking pumpkin bread or baking cookies.

Antique Candle Co. has the most amazing scents available for fall. Don’t you wish there was some sort of scratch and sniff feature available here?

Thanks so much for reading to the end.

My hope is that you are able to take one or two of these ideas and use them to create your own warm and cozy fall kitchen.
