Welcome to Saltwater Sounds, a collection of ideas, tips, and inspiration. This is where I share all that’s been going on in the world of Shiplap and Shells, what’s to come and the inspiration I have found from other bloggers around the web.

This and That…

I hope all my American friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

We had a Friendsgiving this year and enjoyed every minute of it. I have the greatest friends and they are all family to me. The food was so amazing!

And this is where we spent the holiday. Here are some pictures of my friend Lori’s house.

Her house was built in 1920, just like mine. It’s such a warm and cozy home.

My corbels are finally up!

It has taken months but we’ve finally finished this project.

It all started with 2 corbel reproductions that were painted white as seen above right.

And then I found a vintage column and cut it in half.

We attached the column halves to each side of the kitchen entrance. But now the corbels were too small for the columns and they didn’t match.

Wood was added around the corbels. The original corbels were stripped where you see the dark wood in the center.

We stained them, painted them gray, and sanded them.

Glue was brushed on and we waited until it was tacky. At that point, we sprayed the corbels with white paint. As the paint dries it starts crackling in places.

Are they perfectly matched? No, but they sure look a lot better than they did!

Thank you, Tammy! I didn’t think we would get them that close so it is definitely a win. My poor husband worked on them for days!
