Fall Fresh Seasonal Home Tour with Cozy Cottage Style Touches

Are you looking for some simple ideas for decorating your home this autumn? Today, I’m taking you on my fall fresh seasonal home tour to show you how I’ve decorated with cozy cottage-style touches.

Have you brought out your fall decorations yet? I always love bringing all the fall vibes to our beach cottage every September. When it comes to decorating, I usually go with a simpler look with subtle changes.

No matter the season, I always love bringing the outdoor elements indoors and showing off my vintage finds.

fall cottage style home tour entry to living room

Are you ready for my fall cottage-style home tour? Let’s start with the living room.

We live in a 1600-square-foot cottage with a front door that opens to the living room; as much as I love our home, I do wish there was a warm and cozy front entry to welcome you in.

But compromise is always present in an older home like ours, so we have learned to adjust over the years.

In this view, the leather sofa is to the left, and the kitchen is to the right.

vintage white cabinet with cottage style fall decor

Our cottage-style living room is filled with plenty of vintage finds for the fall season and nature-inspired decor.

fall wreath, hydrangeas and vintage cases

Using vintage suitcases and wooden cases brings warmth to the room and are fabulous vintage-inspired decor props for fall.

greenhouse decorated for fall

Vintage treasures like wooden dough bowls and wicker baskets are the perfect decor accessory for your seasonal fruit and flowers.

Dried hydrangeas make a great statement for fall and are easy to dry.

The fall season is all about the textures. As you can see here, I have plenty…

  • Area rug
  • Decorative pillows
  • Chunky throws
  • Wooden dough bowl
  • Wicker lampshade

Jax and Ollie are comfy over on the sofa with the decorative pillows and chunky throws I added to the living room this fall.

I use faux pumpkins indoors and love displaying pumpkins with different textures and sizes throughout the house for fall.

The twig pumpkin pictured above, left on the coffee table, is placed on a pedestal with a mini wreath added to the top for more interest. These days, there’s so much more you can do with a wreath than just hanging it.

Roses, browns, and creams are some of my favorite colors this time of year.

I’ve been trying to find pillow covers rather than entire pillows when shopping for seasonal decor. I don’t have any more room to store all the pillows I’ve accumulated over the years.

white dog sitting on white slipcovered chair and floral throw

Have you ever had a dog that can’t jump? Meet Ollie. It took him 2 years to learn how to jump up on this chair, and now it’s one of his favorite spots.

There’s always a warm and snuggly throw for him to relax on those crisp fall days.

Now I’m showing you the view from the living room, looking at the kitchen.

We love our white slipcovered chairs, which are easy to accessorize for any season. We bought these at Quatrine Home. They can be pricey, but our last set lasted over 20 years, so they are a great investment and worth every penny.

There used to be a wall between the living room and the kitchen. Now, the space feels open and inviting—and so much bigger!

black cabinet with white ironstone

Do you remember me telling you that our beach cottage is only 1,600 square feet?

We have to be strategic about storage solutions around here, which is why we’ve placed our cabinet full of ironstone in the living room but still close to the kitchen.

Welcome to our fall cottage-style kitchen tour. If you haven’t seen our kitchen renovation, make sure you read my post, Our 100-Year-Old Kitchen – Before, After & Everything in Between. We tore everything down to the studs.

We designed the kitchen with our vintage farm sink in mind. Eventually, we replaced it with this reproduction because it was peeling and chipping so badly.

Our cottage kitchen has its share of vintage treasures and flea market finds.

Vintage ironstone, wicker picnic baskets, copper, and weather tins are some goodies in my fall kitchen.

copper tea kettle and pears

One of my favorite ways to decorate for fall is with copper. I probably have 6 or 8 copper kettles and continue buying them whenever I find one.

iron pan rack with copper pans

I also love showing off the vintage pans I’ve collected. Copper and fall go hand-in-hand, in my opinion. It brings such warmth to this space. I also have copper canisters that I’ll be putting out soon.

You can see how we made this iron pan rack here.

We really wanted an island in this space but couldn’t find the size we had hoped for. This vintage dresser was found on Craigslist, and the butcher block top was from a Dunkin Donuts that was going out of business.

No fall home tour is complete without some fall-scented candles around. Candles are one of my very favorite things about fall!

These open shelves are the perfect spot to display different collections each season. Fall is a great time to bring the copper and crocks back out to the kitchen for the autumn months.

open shelf with white vintage ironstone

My vintage ironstone collection is displayed on my open shelving where I add pumpkins and faux fruit and vegetables.

open shelving with fall decor and fresh flowers

A vintage scale, wicker picnic basket, glass cloche, and basket full of breadboards create a warm and cozy cottage-style feel.

fresh bouget of seasonal flowers

I love bringing cut flowers from the garden into the kitchen when they’re still in season.

This floral arrangement I created includes dahlias, yarrow, sedum autumn joy, cinnamon basil, and hydrangeas.

As I said earlier, my fall home decor is full of vintage pieces and outdoor elements inspired by nature. Using fresh and faux fruit is one of my favorite ways to decorate for fall. And as you can see, the faux artichokes look so realistic, don’t they?

fall cottage style home tour kitchen eating space

Our small house has no formal dining room, just this cozy eating space. From here, you can see the greenhouse, gardens, and water views, which is why we rarely go out to eat!

fall centerpiece on table

I found this wooden tray at Target and use it on our dining room table all the time. A vase of flowers and some fruit look perfect here.

The plates and pitcher were purchased from Anthropologie last year. The color complements my fall palette of roses and creams perfectly.

A bouquet of seasonal fresh flowers and some copper pieces create a beautiful centerpiece. For fall, I always try to have something from the outdoors in our dining area.

seasonal fresh flower arrangement

Dahlias are incredible flowers, and I’m so happy that mine will last here in hardiness zone 8b through at least mid-October. It will depend on when we get our first heavy rain of the season.

The autumn season is truly bittersweet when it comes to my garden. It’s the time when I have to say goodbye to all those summer flowers that I spent so much time growing and nurturing.

It’s also when gardeners start to put their gardens to bed. There is so much to do to prepare for the next growing season.

fall flower containers

Fall perennials such as asters, sedum autumn joy, mums, and dahlias are now blooming in my garden. There isn’t much time left for the cut flower garden. Other than dahlias, there are still some strawflowers and zinnias.

The good news is that as I pull the spent flowers from the cutting garden, I will now have room to plant my spring bulbs this month. I can’t wait to show you what I’ll grow next spring in the raised garden beds.

fall decorated greenhouse and scarecrow

Here’s a greenhouse porch view from last fall. I’ll be planting the same annuals:

  • Ornamental kale and cabbage
  • Mums
  • Asters
  • Pansies and Violas (these will come back in the spring)

And, of course, nothing says fall like some real pumpkins. I love using green and white pumpkins in my garden. Cornhusks will finish off this area beautifully.
