Saltwater Sounds Wrap-Up

Welcome to Saltwater Sounds, a collection of ideas, tips, and inspiration. This is where I share all that’s been going on in the world of Shiplap and Shells, what’s to come and the inspiration I have found from other bloggers around the web.

This and That…

Hello from a very soggy Pacific Northwest. We should see less rain in the Seattle area and some freezing temperatures by mid-week.

I can’t figure out if I’m just getting older or it’s because I’m so busy, but I’m finding it hard to believe that December is almost half over.

I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to the days getting longer again.

I went to a wreath-making party last Sunday. We had so much fun! It was amazing to see how unique each wreath was even though we all used the same greenery and materials.

Here are magnolia leaves from our tree. They are such great greenery for wreaths and garland. You can see my magnolia and dried orange wreath I made last year HERE.

Here’s a happy wreath maker, my friend Beth.

Our hostess took good care of us. She made a turkey noodle soup and offered holiday beverages.

This wreath was made with scotch broom.

A December garden miracle has happened. This Cafe au lait dahlia is still blooming and has baby buds as well. I think it’s still going strong because it’s more protected and closer to the house than any of the others.

We had an open house on the new boat last night. It was so fun! I can’t wait to share the highlights with you next week.

Here are a couple of the cleaning pics. I can’t wait to show you the after pics next week.

    1. We had an open house that was so much fun and I decorated for it. Then today I had to take everything back off the boat because it’s going into maintenance for a couple of months.

  1. I can’t wait to see more of your beautiful new boat! How fun to get together and make wreaths! One of the things I really miss here in Florida compared to Ohio is the lack of available evergreens for the holidays. I guess it is because they dry out so quickly.

    1. We are known for our evergreens around here. It is just the most fun month here in our community. The lighted car parade is this Saturday and it comes down our street. Christmas caroling is on the 23rd. So busy, and so fun at the same time.

  2. Thank you so much for sharing my ski lodge series Kim. I can’t wIt to see more of your boat! Happy holidays?

  3. Yes, time is flying by at a ridiculous rate. I am older and looked forward to Christmas all year and then fell apart in November! I put up a lot of decor but felt really ambivilant for the first time ever. Is this common at older age? Or maybe because Boulder has been almost continuously warm. 52 today. So uncommon for Colorado. Well, everything looks nice in your neck of the woods, and it is almost shocking that it is nearly time to think of gardening.

    1. Hi Jillian! It’s hard to think about decorating for Christmas when it’s warmer than we’re used to. It’s hit the 60s a lot in the last few weeks with dumping rain but we are just starting to get colder now. I am just as shocked by the fact that I need to come up with a gardening plan in the next week or two so I can buy the right flower seeds. Happy holidays!
