Spring Cottage Home Tour and Simple Decorating Ideas
Are you looking for spring home decor ideas now that spring is officially here? In this post, I’ll take you on a spring home tour of my cottage living room and bedroom while sharing some simple spring decor ideas to make your home look and feel its best this season.
Whether you want to be inspired by this spring tour of homes or are interested in the easiest ways to decorate your home for the season, this tour is the perfect place to start.
My cottage home style is pretty simple and has a relaxed feel. For me, it’s all about creating a welcoming and comfortable space.
I love bringing fresh flowers indoors, which is my favorite way to welcome spring into my home. Creating spring vignettes using vintage thrifted finds is the icing on the cake.

Spring Home Tour: Part 1
I’ve already shared how I refreshed my cottage-style kitchen and laundry room for spring in Spring Home Tour Part 1 a couple of weeks ago.
Take a look at some of the other spring home tours from past years linked below:
Decorating for Spring is Different from Last Year
Spring is a time of renewal.
I don’t know about you, but I am excited about longer days and seeing my spring garden in full bloom. And with that, I always look forward to a fresh new look for spring.
This year’s spring tour is a little different, though.
After a knee replacement almost six weeks ago, I couldn’t shop for the usual simple touches like new throw pillows and the latest spring decor offers. The good news is that I had a lot of spring decorations on hand to choose from.
Welcome to My Spring Cottage Living Room Home Tour
From vintage thrifted finds to faux flowers and plants, these easy spring home decor ideas instantly brightened up our cottage living room.
Our 1920 beach cottage is only 1600 square feet and has quite a storage issue.
We have bought many different types of cabinets throughout the years to store things in. The good news is we’re able to display more home decor on top of the cabinets as well.
Here’s a view of the opposite side of the living room facing the kitchen.
There used to be a wall to the left of the front door that separated the kitchen from the living room. I love how open and inviting this space feels now.
We also added the faux ceiling beams in the living room several years ago. They were from actual reclaimed barn siding lumber.
You can see the renovations in my blog post HERE.
Refresh Pillows and Rugs
What better way to bring in a new season than to replace your decorative winter pillows with bright ones?
A simple way to kick off spring is to change your textiles for lighter and brighter ones.
I use lighter-weight throw blankets in the spring, but since this is still early spring, I did leave out my favorite chunky knit throw, at least until the nights get up into the fifties again.
We love our cozy window seat filled with spring pillows and throws. My dogs, Jax and Ollie, have a great vantage point when on guard dog duty, looking out for strangers.
I had a plan… a perfect plan.
I ordered a vintage rug with pink and brown in it. It’s gorgeous, and it was going to look stunning with the pillows and pink faux cherry blossoms in the oversized basket on the wall.
The rug is coming tomorrow. Timing is everything.
Color Palette
As you can see, I tried my hand at pink in the living room this spring. It could be one of the only spring colors I haven’t tried in this space yet.
Shades of pink give the living room the best pops of color.
The color scheme was decided after finding this tree of cherry blossoms in a local store. I was amazed by how realistic faux flowers can be.
Depending on the picture, it’s hard to see that the blossoms are light pink.
Coffee Table Styling
Our cottage-style living room is small, so I have to be picky about the spring home decor I use and not overdo it.
Filling a dough bowl like this one or a tray is a great way to make a big impact during the spring season.
Here are some simple ideas for home decor you can use when styling your coffee table.
Vintage Room Decor
Adding vintage pieces to a coffee table vignette is a beautiful way to refresh your living room and add interest to a space.
You can find a variety of one-of-a-kind items at flea markets and thrift stores.
Mixing thrifted vintage finds with newer home decor is easy to do and looks great,
Fresh Spring Flowers
Nothing says spring like fresh flowers. A simple vase of flowers can instantly brighten up your living room.
I love fresh spring flowers so much that I plant tulips in my cut flower garden every year so I can pick them whenever I want.
What’s your favorite flower for spring?
Faux Flowers, Plants & Fruit
If you love flowers but are looking for a more low-maintenance option, faux flowers are a perfect choice.
You can also find realistic faux plants and fruit. The green apples in the white scalloped bowl above are faux.
Here are my faux spring blossoms up close.
My Spring Cottage Bedroom Home Tour
Next up is our primary bedroom. I like to call it cozy rather than small.
You know your bedroom is small when you can’t fit a dresser in this space. All we could fit was a king-sized bed and two nightstands in this space.
There’s my sweet little Ollie boy. The best model ever!
Lighten Up the Bedding
Spring is the perfect time to replace heavy blankets and flannel sheets. I love using lighter bedding this time of year.
I realized that the blues in the shams and blanket throw were drastically different, but not until I was taking pictures the day before publishing this post. So now that we’ve addressed the elephant in the room let’s keep going.
Vintage and Antique Furniture Pieces
I love this chippy vintage nightstand. It’s so quirky!
Do you see how the drawers aren’t centered on this piece? Perfect imperfection!
I use my faux hydrangeas in the bedroom for spring and summer. Don’t they look realistic?
The spring blooms in the bedroom are mostly faux because I forget to water them here. I do try to display fresh flowers on the mantel, though.
The glass door cabinet was built at the same time as our house in 1920 and was a stand-alone piece. We built it into the wall to use as a dresser while remodeling the bathroom on the other side a few years ago.
Making Our 100-Year-Old Cabinet Into the Perfect Bedroom Built-in
Mantel Spring Home Decor
Decorating your spring mantel with flowers is an easy way to refresh your seasonal space. Last year, we decorated the bedroom mantel with mason jars full of tulips.
This time I chose pink and coral snapdragons and some eucalyptus for my fresh flowers. I bought them at the grocery store after PT the other day.
Read about how we built our faux fireplace mantel surround HERE.
I can’t wait until our cut flower garden is blooming. I love going out to the garden every morning and picking a bouquet or two of flowers.
See my “growing a cut flower garden” series HERE.
Here’s the spring mantel décor I used this year:
Snapdragons are such a perfect flower for a cottage-style home. They look so old-fashioned.
More About Our Bedroom
I absolutely love the antique chandelier we found right after we bought our home.
The basket of faux hydrangeas hanging on the wall is one of my favorites for spring.
Here’s the other built-in we had made as a dresser. It was the original closet. Where the mirror is to the left is where the door to the living room used to be.
You can read more about those renovations HERE.
This is a bit of a quirky space in the bedroom. There’s a window seat, but the bed partially blocks it, so we can’t use it as intended.
Thank you for following along on my spring tour of the living room and bedroom.
